RSS tools
Five tools for anyone who publishes or follows feeds, built on what Inoreader learns from fetching three million feeds a day. They are free, and you do not need an account for any of them.
Feed finder
Paste the address of a website, a blog or a channel and get the feeds it publishes, checked and ready to follow.
Open the toolFeed validator
See whether feed readers can fetch, parse and update a feed, what is wrong and how to fix it, with the history of Inoreader's own checks.
Open the toolPodcast validator
Check a podcast feed against what Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the apps require: artwork, categories, episode files and byte ranges.
Open the toolFeed viewer
Read any feed in the browser, laid out as Inoreader shows it, and follow it with one click.
Open the toolOPML checker
Upload the export of another reader and see which of its feeds work, which moved and which are listed twice.
Open the toolLearn
The reference pages the reports link to, written for the person who has to fix a feed.
An RSS feed, explained
A complete feed that every reader accepts, element by element, with the Atom and JSON Feed versions.
ReadWebSub for publishers
How posts reach readers within seconds: declaring a hub, pinging it and checking that it delivers.
ReadWhat a feed address is
Where websites keep their feeds, the address patterns by platform, and what to do when a site has none.
ReadWho they are for
Publishers
Check a feed before announcing it, see why a reader stopped updating, and get the fixes in words a developer can act on. The validator reports failures Inoreader saw in the last days, which no syntax check can.
Readers
Find the feed behind a website, read a feed in the browser before following it, and check an old OPML export before importing it.
Podcasters
See whether Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the apps accept a feed, with the episode files and the artwork fetched and measured.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an Inoreader account to use the tools?
No. Every tool works without an account. An account is only needed to follow a feed you found or checked, and a free account holds up to 150 feeds.
What do the tools store?
Nothing about you. A report is kept for ten minutes so that a shared link opens at once, and each use is counted. The feeds themselves are not added to Inoreader unless you follow them.
Why are the reports different from other validators?
Other validators check the syntax of the document. Inoreader fetches three million feeds a day, so its tools also check what actually breaks feeds: the server refusing, timing out or blocking readers, and, for feeds Inoreader follows, what the last days of checks saw.
Can I link to a report?
Yes. Every report has a shareable link that opens the tool with the address filled in and runs the check again, and a feed that works gets a badge for its site.
